Niantic has just released a new update for Pokémon Go, it should start rolling out to your phones here shortly. This newest update brings the versions up to 1.23.1 for iOS and 0.53.1 for Android users. While it’s not the Generation 2 or the Legendary Birds that we are looking for, it at least shows Niantic is behind the game 100% still.
The first thing the update adds is for Apple Watch users, your screen will not be able to display eggs obtained at PokéStops.
Next, the distance tracking has been tweaked to “better account for GPS Drift” – which occurs when the game shows you are moving when you’re truly not. For those of you who have been taking advantage of this, and why not really, it probably won’t work as effectively as it did before.
Here is the official patch blurb from Niantic:
Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.53.1 for Android and 1.23.1 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

Minor text fixes.
